You can obtain a digital certificate from a government office or a government-issued document such as a passport.
You must also have your government-issue certificate and/or photo ID and be at least 18 years old to request a digital copy of your birth certificate.
Please note that digital birth cards are not valid for travel or for purposes other than marriage.
Where can I obtain a certificate?
You can print your birth certificates from a Canada Post Office or a Canada Driver’s Licence.
You will also need to present a copy of the original certificate or photo ID that was issued in the province you live in.
What happens if I don’t have a digital or photocopy of my birth certificate?
If you do not have a copy, you will need to provide proof of your identity, such as your Canadian driver’s licence or passport.

What is the cost of a digital digital birth card?
You will need the following to purchase a digital printable birth certificate: A digital signature.
